- JK> Well, after all, I think, he said ONLINE and he wanted to say
- JK> AMIGAGUIDE (Well, it's kinda ONLINE...On his very own computer)
-
- JK> But, huh, who cares about thieving the DOCS while they are
- JK> unavailable. And, huh, maybe we will get them on CDR for a reasonable
- JK> price in the short future, anyway. But maybe I'm just dreaming about a
- JK> good world. Shit, I mean the fascination about the AMIGA is that there
- JK> is soooo much GOOD Software available for FREE, because of the
- JK> PD-Scene. And the PD Programmers need DOCS. And they have the bloody
- JK> right to have DOCS. And if they can't get them legally, because THEY
- JK> ARE NOT AVAILABLE, they have to help themselves. And hey, the whole
- JK> OFFICIAL FUCKIN' CERTIFIED DEVELOPERS thing is a bit of crap, because
- JK> it creates a two class developers world. If I would be AT, I would
- JK> handle it this way: Making ALL Information about the OS and Hardware
- JK> available to anyone (On Paper AND as a CD...Maybe as a SET...) and
- JK> updating it repeatedly via PD. And all the other stuff you can get as
- JK> a CERTIFIED...like OS Betas and Hardware BETAS and stuff... just give
- JK> it to a few WELL Known and famous Programmers from the companies and
- JK> from the PD Scene. So you don't have to bother about this CERTIFIED
- JK> shit. I mean AT would have to loose the DEVELOPERS FEE, but the
- JK> financial balance of AT shouldn't rely on it, anyway... :)
-
- JK> Making Information Available is sometimes quite dangerous, but I can't
- JK> see any danger in this case...And it would surely give the PD Scene a
- JK> positive kick, because there are a lot of programmers sitting at their
- JK> AMI optimizing "Hello World" to death, just because they have no
- JK> documentation and so they cannot do any OS stuff... Not to forget that
- JK> the general safety of the OS would increase because more programmers
- JK> would suddenly start to program using intuition.library and not
- JK> programming by intuition. Some of the resident "Certified"'s here are
- JK> always fast to point all the mistakes that we make and that we are
- JK> dangerous because we do not obey the rules. But how should one obey
- JK> the rules, if one don't know them. Making the GUIDE Version of the
- JK> RKM's and the AUTODOCS available for free really could help, believe
- JK> me. But, on the other hand...If this would happen, all the Certified's
- JK> can't complain about broken rules anymore. C.S.A.P could be quite
- JK> boring for them, then... :)
-
- JK> -Jan "Nearly having the DOCS" Krutisch
-
- JK> PS: This is not meant to flame any of the resident Certified AMIGA
- JK> Developers. But sometimes I think they have a kindalike ELITE
- JK> feeling...(In a very negative way...). As I said RTFM makes no
- JK> sense if there are no FM's, OK ?
-
- JK> PPS: Yeah, you guessed it. Uhhh, I'm illegal. But now I can start
- JK> programming. Otherwise I would have occupied my fathers PC and
- JK> would have started doing some fly PC-SHIT like my
- JK> ASCII-Blaster-Project. Consider this a splat.

- Amiga Technologies GMBH hear this!
-
- Yes, he's obviously young, no doubt given the right tutoring, talented.
- Brash maybe even. But hey AT, he also has the guts to be *truthfull*.
- You've had damned near 9 months to ship the stuff to the copiers and thence
- to the developers. New stuffs to add is no excuse as long as what you want
- to add remains compatible and doesn't break on 3.0-3.1 machines already
- shipped.
-
- You can't, in your wildest dreams believe that your own people can write
- enough software to make this resurrected machine into a best seller. You
- absolutely HAVE TO HAVE THE ASSISTANCE OF THE BELEIVERS to make this even a
- break even operation.
-
- So get off your butt and DO it. By not doing it, you are consigning
- yourself to the same scrap heap Apple will be piled on by this time next
- year! If they last that long. They can't lose another 68 mill next
- quarter, or the next big sidewalk sale will be held in Silicon Valley.
-
- To Jan: Get yourself a late copy of F.W. 4. Polish it up according to your
- formatting tastes and wear a good 24 pin dmp out. Nice. But you'll need
- extra padding in your chair, its a long job.
